Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Dr.Vodder's Method
Improving the lymphatic flow of the full body
What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage ?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage moves the skin and the underneath tissue smoothly, rhythmically and in the direction of the lymphatic flow, helping the capillaries to widely open if there is too much fluid pressure in the connective tissue. At the same time the rhythm of the massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system which helps the patient to relax and nurture the body to homeostasis.
This is not a conventional massage where your muscles are going to be stretch and press in order to release tensions. Manual lymphatic drainage is a smooth massage where only the skin is moved in the indicated directions. The sensation is like a feathering and relaxing touch.
My Qualifications
I am certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) using Dr. Vodder’s Technique, Level 2. This qualification allows me to apply MLD to patients with a functioning lymphatic system, particularly in the areas of pre- and post-operative care and post-traumatic recovery.
However, I do not currently provide treatment for oedemas. If you would like more information, please feel free to reach out. For oedema treatments, you can find qualified MLD-DLT therapists at MLDUK.

The lymphatic system has two main functions, to provide a return route for waste and fluids that blood vessels cannot carry, and to help regulate immune system function. It is also an aid to the digestion/absorption process by allowing fats to enter the blood circulation and reach the liver, where they can be process.
The lymph nodes respond to infection and inflammation, produce antibodies and regulate the water and protein content of the lymph. When the lymphatic system is compromised (damaged by, malformation, radiotherapy, surgery, etc…) lymphatic fluids can build up and stagnate causing the entire system to become toxic.
